Why follow up on an estimate
Most customers who go quiet after an estimate haven't said no. They're busy, they're comparing bids, or they have a question they haven't asked. A short, friendly follow-up brings a lot of those jobs back, and the contractor who follows up is often the one who gets the call.
Tell Typli which estimate it is and who it's for. You get an email and a text in your own voice, each ready to copy and send.
What a good estimate follow-up says
- Which job and which estimate. "The roof replacement estimate I sent Tuesday, #1042" saves the customer digging through their inbox.
- A real question. "Do you have any questions about it?" invites a reply in a way "Just checking in" doesn't.
- One easy next step. Reply to pick a start date, call to go over options, or come walk the job again.
- No pressure. No fake deadlines or "prices are going up" unless that's true.

Estimate follow-up text template
Hi Ana, it's Mike. Just checking in on the roof estimate I sent Tuesday (#1042, $15,209). Any questions? Happy to talk it through. If you'd like to go ahead, reply and we'll pick a start date.
When to follow up
- First follow-up: two to three business days after you send the estimate. Texts tend to get seen faster than emails, so many contractors send both.
- Second follow-up: about a week later. Keep it shorter, and make it easy to say no: "If you've gone another way, no problem, just let me know."
- After that: one last note in two or three weeks, then let it go. Some of these come back months later.
If you made the estimate in Typli, open it and choose Estimate Follow-Up. The tool opens with the estimate number, the total, the date and the link already filled in.
Frequently asked questions
Is it free?
Yes. You can write follow-ups without an account. A free account saves your work and fills in your name, business and sign-off on every message.
Will it make up a discount or a deadline?
No. It uses only what you give it. If the message needs something you didn't mention, it leaves a placeholder in [square brackets] for you to fill in.
Can I change the tone?
Yes. Ask for it shorter, warmer or more direct, and you get both versions again with that change.
